Children’s Chapel
We are excited to offer this new worship opportunity to Children and Families at St. Bartholomew's Parish. Begun on Sunday, May 4, children and their families gather as usual for worship for the 10:30 am Liturgy. After the Collect (Prayer) of the Day, the children gather around the Children’s Cross in the front of the Altar and process to the Chapel. They return at the passing of the Peace to share with Fr. Michael and the church what they learned.
In essence, they are engaged in the same liturgy as the adults with a reading from Holy Scripture, a children’s sermon, songs of praise, a creedal statement, prayers, and general confession – This is true worship on a child’s level and it’s fast paced and fun packed worship in a traditional setting. For more information, please speak with Fr. Michael or Kathy Walker, Minister to Families.

Adult Acolytes Needed
As we seek to integrate our ministries at St. Bartholomew’s with our youth lay reading and serving at the Altar, we are also seeking to move the pendulum in the other direction. Adults can and should be Acolytes. This eliminates the weekly weight placed solely on our youth and spreads the joy and responsibility more holistically throughout the congregation. It also helps the church with a practical challenge that recognizes that many of our youth go to camp during the summer and our acolyte team needs a boost of volunteers. Please speak with Fr. Michael or Martha Flowers to help.
Give a Book of Common Prayer – We need 50!!!
For just $19 a piece ($38 for two & $57 for three) you can purchase a Book of Common Prayer to supplement those in the church and chapel. When we have lots of folks, we need more prayer books than we currently have available in the pews and we need some for the adult and children’s classrooms. To have this problem is good!!!! If you would like to give money toward the purchase of prayer books, please write a check payable to St. Bartholomew’s and on the memo line, write “For Prayer Book”. You may give them as a memorial, by letting the office know.

The Jerusalem Cross is an ancient cross associated with the Holy Land. The four smaller crosses are said to symbolize either the four books of the Gospel or the four directions in which the Word of Christ spread from Jerusalem. Alternately, all five crosses can symbolize the five wounds of Christ during the Passion. In any event, the Jerusalem Cross symbolizes our affinity with the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church founded in 33 AD by Jesus and His disciples.
